We recently received on-site operation feedback from our overseas clients, who have completed live-line flushing work on insulators of high-voltage transmission towers with our live-line cleaning drones and highly recognized the actual cleaning performance of the equipment.
Footage sent back by the client shows that the multi-rotor cleaning drone, equipped with an insulated water supply hose, flies close to tower insulators and sprays high-pressure water precisely. Dust and contaminants accumulated on live insulator strings are washed away thoroughly. Operators control the whole system remotely on the ground; no tower climbing or power cut is required during cleaning.
According to the client, long-term outdoor exposure leaves insulators covered in dust and environmental grime. In foggy or rainy weather, contaminated damp insulators easily trigger flashovers and even line tripping failures, which severely threaten power supply stability.
Traditional cleaning methods have obvious drawbacks: maintenance staff have to climb towers with power cut-off, which brings high fall risks and long working hours. Power outages also cause huge economic losses. Besides, towers in remote mountainous areas are extremely hard to reach for manual maintenance.
By adopting our cleaning drone, power lines can stay energized throughout the cleaning process. All staff work safely on the ground without high-altitude risks. The drone can maneuver flexibly to reach every corner of transmission towers, with adjustable water pressure that prevents damage to insulator glaze layers. Its working efficiency is far higher than manual cleaning, and it fits towers located in complex terrains perfectly, eliminating hidden dangers caused by contaminated power equipment.
The client stated that this field test fully proves the practicality of our drone equipment. They plan to deploy our cleaning drones for regular maintenance of massive power transmission lines in their service area, so as to cut labor costs and improve the safety level of power grid maintenance.
